Vogel Street

123 Vogel Street, Dunedin

Our team took over 123 Vogel Street in 2007 and redevelopment began in 2015 with the goal of transforming the warehouse and storage space into modern office spaces for multiple businesses. The redevelopment process consisted of extensive reinforcement and earthquake strengthening, along with new floors and windows and insulating up to code for energy efficiency. Additionally, we created an atrium complete with exposed brick walls that house new lifts and staircases. ADL Properties has since sold this modern and contemporary property in 2019.

History

Built in 1878, 123 Vogel Street has become a modern piece of Dunedin’s architectural history and has the awards to prove it. The building was designed and built by the renowned R A Lawson who also designed Dunedin’s iconic First Church of Otago and Otago Boys High School. When Vogel Street was constructed, it was far ahead of its time, the innovative beam system of foundations was a notable factor of the building’s strength and stability. This system is now used in building houses today.
